Ten Peterbilt 337s and 25 Converted Nissan Vans, Plus Fueling

Pennsylvania beverage distributor LT Verrastro has committed to compressed natural gas, installing a CNG fueling facility in Old Forge to support a fleet of ten Peterbilt 337 trucks and 25 Nissan NV 1500 vans.

The project entails an impressive assortment of new vehicle types available as natural gas vehicles, and new equipment helping make them possible.

  • The bi-fuel Nissan vans feature Zavoli engine equipment and new Type IV CNG cylinders from Pennsylvania’s CP Industries, says James O’Donnell of upfitter Alternative Fuel Solutions (AFS; also of Pennsylvania).
  • The Peterbilt 337 became available with natural gas only in December, says Lou Domenico of Pennsylvania’s Pocono Peterbilt.

New Jersey’s Air & Gas Technologies is building the new LT Verrastro CNG facility using an Angi Energy NG50E4 compressor. The limited public access station, to be ready by summer, will have 20 time-fill posts as well as fast-fuel capability. It will be used by LT Verrastro and other fleets, and is to be expanded in 2016 to increase capacity and add redundancy
